Many people are turning to smoothies and juices for a quick, nutritious and potentially fat-burning meal or cleanse. There are many ways to make these nutritious beverages. Unfortunately, there are also many mistakes to make which may negate the healthy drink’s benefits. I gave New Jersey’s 12 to Your Health viewers my ‘Lean Green Cleansing Machine’ recipe. I put green vegetables, protein powder and Sunfiber in my green smoothie. This nutritious beverage is low in calories and rich in nutrients. And thanks to the additional fiber, it supports your weight-loss goals by helping you feel full.
Many juices are loaded with sugar. For example, the average person may juice two pounds of vegetables to make about 16 ounces of juice. There is more sugar in that juice than a can of cola. While our bodies do need some sugar, if you are trying to lose weight, you don’t want to cleanse that way.
About an hour after you wake up in the morning, make yourself a smoothie. I recommend using only greens. Avocados are a healthy fat, but if you’re trying to lose weight you don’t need to include it. Most people love fruit, but save that for dessert.
My Lean Green Cleansing Machine smoothie
½ cup previously brewed green tea, with lemon
2 scoops vanilla whey protein powder
½ spinach, romaine or any other lettuce
½ cup cucumber
1 scoop Sunfiber
5 ice cubes
Many juices aren’t nutritionally balanced. They often lack protein and fiber. This recipe includes a vanilla protein powder which buffers the insulin reaction and provides flavor. It also includes tasteless, odorless Sunfiber which provides the fiber your body needs along with a satiety effect, or feeling of fullness. Sunfiber is the only truly regulating fiber on the market. This 100 percent gluten-free powder helps manage both occasional diarrhea and occasional constipation. And unlike some fiber supplements, there are no unpleasant side effects with Sunfiber.
